Abstract

On October 26, the World Life Sciences Conference—China–South Africa Life Sciences Industry Project Matchmaking Meeting opened at the Zhongguancun South Africa Science and Technology Park in Johannesburg, South Africa. On October 26, the World Life Sciences Conference—China–South Africa Life Sciences and Health Industry Project Matchmaking Meeting opened at the Zhongguancun South Africa Science Park in Johannesburg, South Africa. Zhang Qian, General Manager of the International Affairs Department of Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products Co., Ltd., attended the conference and delivered a speech.

Zhang Qian briefed the attendees on the company’s development journey, its product portfolio, and its international collaborations. He also provided an update on the company’s current R&D progress and expressed康泰生物’s sincere intention to partner with South African enterprises, with the hope of making a meaningful contribution to advancing the China–Africa life sciences and health industry.

Dan du Toit, Deputy Director-General of South Africa’s Department of Science and Innovation; Minister Counsellor Shen Long of the Science and Technology Section of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa; Minister Counsellor Zhao Zhongyi of the Commercial Section; and Deputy Director-General Chen Huaming of the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, among other leaders, attended the conference. The attendees unanimously agreed that advancing global public health governance requires a community with a shared future, in which our interests are deeply intertwined, and expressed their hope to establish a platform for cooperation and exchange in the life‑science and health industries between China and Africa, thereby supporting the creation of an international health‑industry alliance and jointly safeguarding a healthy and prosperous future for humanity.

This trade fair is guided and supported by the Science and Technology Section and the Economic and Commercial Section of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of South Africa, and is hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the Chinese Society for Research Hospitals, the Zhongguancun South Africa Science Park, and the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce. It is organized by 360 Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zhongqi Shibo International Exhibition Co., Ltd.

Recently, Beijing held a grand commendation conference for the “Two Excellences and One Pioneer” initiative in emerging sectors. The “Two New” Working Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee recognized outstanding Communist Party members, exemplary Party affairs workers, and advanced primary-level Party organizations across the city’s emerging fields. The Party branch of Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was honored as an advanced primary-level Party organization in Beijing’s emerging sectors. Wu Chengyu, the branch secretary, attended the ceremony in person to receive the award.
