Abstract

“Is vaccination safe?” “How are our vaccines regulated?” “Could we possibly receive an expired vaccine at a vaccination site?” With many such questions in mind, on October 16, five primary school students from Baishida and their parents visited the Guangming production facility of Kintor Pharmaceutical for an educational tour.

1

Focus and learn about vaccines.

The five students who came this time are all fourth-graders at Baishida Primary School. They jointly participated in this year’s Shenzhen primary and secondary school inquiry‑based mini‑project, titled “A Study on the Current Status of Vaccine Management and the Safety of Immunization in Shenzhen.” Prior to their visit to the Guangming Industrial Park, they had already spent more than five months investigating this topic.

1

Ask questions enthusiastically and explore the mysteries of vaccines.

Zhao Yu and Cheng Biyan, managers of the company’s Quality Assurance Department, provided the children with a detailed explanation of the scientific principles behind how vaccines protect the human body from disease, as well as the production and quality‑control processes for the recombinant hepatitis B vaccine. They then guided the students on a tour of the filling and packaging workshop, where they learned how absolute safety is ensured throughout the manufacturing process. During the visit, the students’ many questions—such as how vaccines are regulated, how cold‑chain transportation is maintained, and details about procurement channels and vaccination coverage—were addressed one by one.

Through their visit, they gained a clear, firsthand understanding of the rigorous vaccine‑production process, deepened their knowledge of vaccine‑related public health information, and learned that each vaccine, like a person, has an “identification number” (a traceability code), enabling its entire journey—from “birth” to distribution—to be tracked via that code. As a vital safeguard for public health, particularly children’s health, vaccines have become the most cost‑effective and secure option for disease prevention, thanks to increasingly stringent national regulations and the growing sophistication and widespread application of information‑technology.

1

At the production facility, gain an understanding of the vaccine quality control process.

As one of the earliest domestic manufacturers of recombinant hepatitis B vaccines, Kangtai Biological has consistently adhered to the principle that “quality is life.” So far, the batch The approval rate for issuance is 100%; the company will also adopt a more open approach to welcome scrutiny from all sectors of society.
