On the afternoon of September 13, the sixth annual “Ankang Cup” Workers’ Basketball Tournament for 2018 officially came to a close at the Daojing Sports Activity Center. The competition featured 13 teams from various units within the Biomedical Base, bringing together top basketball players who battled fiercely over 10 days in a total of 23 matches. The Minhai Biotechnology basketball team demonstrated unity, determination, and relentless effort throughout the tournament, ultimately securing an impressive third-place finish.

The last week of April each year is World Immunization Week. In 2018, the WHO designated the theme “Protected Together, #VaccinesWork,” encouraging everyone—from donors to the general public—to redouble their efforts to increase immunization coverage in the interest of the greater good. Vaccination saves countless lives and is widely recognized as one of the most successful and cost-effective public health interventions, playing a vital role in preventing certain infectious diseases, curbing antimicrobial resistance, and strengthening public health and population well-being.

China is the world’s largest producer of human vaccines. According to data released by the National Institute for Food and Drug Control, the country issues batch release certificates for 500 million to 1 billion vaccine vials (doses) annually, ranking first globally. From 2012 to 2015, due to the absence of major blockbuster products on the market, the vaccine industry’s output value remained stable at around RMB 15 billion, with growth stalling. Also according to the institute’s data, in 2015 there were 43 domestic enterprises authorized to conduct batch release of vaccines.
