Abstract
To further broaden managers’ perspectives, expand their thinking, and enhance their professional capabilities, enabling them to approach the second half of the year with greater enthusiasm and vigor, under the leadership of General Managers Miao, Zheng, and Liu, mid- and senior-level executives were dispatched in two groups—from August 5 to 7 and from August 12 to 14, 2022—to Shanxi Province to study traditional Chinese culture, explore the spirit of the Jin merchants, and examine strategies for sustainable corporate development rooted in their own cultural heritage.
During his inspection tour of Shanxi, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out, “Since ancient times, Shanxi has boasted a tradition of valuing commerce, giving rise to the Jinshang spirit—characterized by honesty and trustworthiness, pioneering ambition, unity and mutual support, pragmatic management, and a commitment to benefiting the people and serving the nation.” The Jinshang adhered to Confucian principles, upholding “integrity as the foundation while balancing righteousness and profit.” Their spirit of enterprise, dedication, diligence, and collective cooperation is worthy of our emulation in every respect.
The group successively visited Wutai Mountain, a renowned sanctuary of traditional culture, where they offered sincere prayers and savored the refreshing coolness. Together, they wished the enterprise enduring prosperity and vigorous growth. They then explored Pingyao Ancient City, which vividly showcases the historical charm of the Jin merchants, learning about their remarkable stories and gaining insight into the city’s urban planning, the Chinese ethos of benevolence and virtue, and the time-honored moral traditions of the Chinese nation. Finally, they toured the Qiao Family Courtyard, a living testament to the rise and fall of the Qiao clan—a prominent family of commercial and financial capital—marveling at its grand scale and exquisite craftsmanship, often regarded as a quintessential example of northern residential architecture, while pondering the enduring secrets behind the Qiaos’ remarkable longevity as a private enterprise in China.
The origins of Jinshang culture lie in traditional Chinese culture and its moral and ethical principles, with integrity and the harmonious pursuit of righteousness and profit at its core. Its business philosophy—“Integrity Above All, Righteousness and Profit in Harmony”—places commercial reputation above all else.
At the same time, during the visit, participants came to appreciate that talent must possess both virtue and competence, and that only through continuous self-improvement can one truly share the enterprise’s fortunes and contribute to its efficient growth.
Recently, General Manager Du of the company has set forth clear expectations: all managerial cadres must stay focused on their work and align their efforts with the enterprise’s strategic priorities. As we move into the present period and beyond the 20th National Congress, competition in the vaccine industry will become increasingly intense. We must strengthen our internal capabilities by identifying gaps—whether in product quality, R&D progress, or functional management—and continuously strive for improvement. Only by enhancing our competitiveness can we ensure steady, forward‑moving progress. In terms of management enhancement, the most critical factor is unity of purpose and alignment of thinking. Managers must channel their attention fully into every aspect of the company’s operations, lead by example, and deliver the highest possible standards in their work.
Team building is an excellent opportunity for learning, reflection, and personal growth. Over two phases, the Minhai team has consistently demonstrated exceptional execution, unwavering obedience to orders and direction, and a steadfast spirit of overcoming challenges, while cultivating integrity and embodying the company’s distinguished culture in every aspect of their work. Through this team‑building experience, participants have deepened their emotional connections and strengthened their sense of unity. They expressed their commitment to carry the insights and lessons gained into their daily work—approaching their roles with greater gratitude, solidarity, and cohesion—to drive the company’s success even further.
