Abstract
On the morning of September 28, the evaluation and defense session for postdoctoral fellows Xu Yingzhi, who is scheduled to leave the station, and Liu Jiandong and Li Kelei, who are joining the station, was held in the company’s First Conference Room. The company invited Academician Rao Zihe of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Liu Ruitian of the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhang Jingren of the Center for Infectious Disease Research at the School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, Researcher Liang Zhenglun of the National Institute for Food and Drug Control, as well as Researcher Zheng Haifa, head of the company’s postdoctoral workstation, and Professor Liu Jiankai to form the evaluation panel, with Researcher Zheng Haifa serving as the panel chair. Professor Liu Jiankai presided over the meeting.

Dr. Xu Yingzhi joined the Postdoctoral Research Station and the Postdoctoral Mobility Station of Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. on April 17, 2015, under a joint training program between the company and the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His collaborating mentor at the research station was Researcher Zheng Haifa, while his mentor at the mobility station was Academician Rao Zihe. During his tenure, he conducted structural validation of recombinant enterovirus 71 virus-like particles and constructed recombinant coxsackievirus A16 virus-like particles. At Minhai, Dr. Xu Yingzhi tackled challenging scientific problems and made significant contributions to advancing the development of the company’s two gene‑engineered vaccine projects targeting EV71 and COXA16. Following evaluation, the review panel unanimously concluded that Dr. Xu had successfully fulfilled the objectives of his research project, demonstrated outstanding performance, and recommended his successful completion of the postdoctoral program.
Dr. Liu Jiandong and Dr. Li Kelei, who have joined the institute, are conducting research on “Expression and Identification of Antigens for Group B Meningococcal Vaccine” and “Quality Control and Evaluation of CA16 Vaccine,” respectively. After listening to the presentations by the two postdoctoral fellows, the review panel conducted a comprehensive assessment and ultimately approved the initiation of their research projects.
Over the years, Minhai Biotechnology has placed great emphasis on attracting and cultivating high-caliber talent. In 2013, it successfully established a postdoctoral research workstation through its application to the National Postdoctoral Administration Committee of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. In day-to-day R&D operations, General Manager Zheng Haifa and Executive Deputy General Manager Liu Jiankai have provided close oversight and guidance, continuously enhancing the workstation’s R&D and management capabilities. The company is committed to creating an optimal environment for postdoctoral fellows—fostering favorable conditions for learning, research, and professional development—and cultivating a strong culture that values knowledge, respects talent, and champions innovation.
Dr. Xu Yingzhi is the first postdoctoral fellow to complete his tenure at our company’s postdoctoral workstation. His successful completion marks a new milestone in our efforts to cultivate high‑level talent. Moving forward, the company will further strengthen the establishment and management of its postdoctoral program, fully leveraging its pivotal role in cutting‑edge, forward‑looking scientific research and technological innovation. We aim to transform the postdoctoral workstation into a premier platform for attracting, nurturing, and developing top talent in the biopharmaceutical sector. We look forward to welcoming more distinguished professionals to Minhai, making it a hub for outstanding minds and achieving even greater breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation, thereby contributing to China’s vaccine R&D and talent development.
