The vaccine industry poised to erupt in silence

In the cold chain, vaccines represent a well-established, low-cost, high‑benefit preventive intervention against many disabling and life‑threatening diseases, generating substantial public health gains that translate into annual savings of tens of billions of dollars for healthcare systems. Yet, until recently, vaccine manufacturers have only begun to receive economic returns commensurate with this long track record of positive public health outcomes. Today, the vaccine sector stands at the forefront of the industry, posting robust revenue growth—double-digit rates of 10% to 15% annually—and is expected to maintain this momentum in the years ahead, far outpacing the 6% to 7% growth rate typical of the traditional pharmaceutical sector.

Rising public demand for health is driving robust growth in the vaccine industry.

As the nation’s attention to infectious disease prevention and control continues to grow, the sector has benefited significantly from supportive government policies. With the strengthening of fiscal capacity, the number of vaccines included in the National Immunization Program has expanded several times, now covering 15 infectious diseases. Meanwhile, rising public demand for health services has strongly fueled the rapid growth of the vaccine industry. According to the Measures for the Administration of Batch Release of Biological Products, vaccines must first undergo quality inspection by the National Institute for Food and Drug Control and obtain batch release approval before they can be marketed and sold.

Quadrivalent vaccine – more important than compliance is full compliance.

As is well known, with the vigorous development of China’s immunization program, the state has been incorporating an increasing number of vaccines into the national immunization schedule, particularly those administered to infants under six months of age. Combination vaccines represent the future direction of vaccine development; administering combination vaccines can reduce the number of doses required, alleviate vaccination‑related pain in children, decrease the frequency of parent visits to vaccination clinics, lower the incidence of adverse reactions, and lighten the workload of vaccination personnel.
