Abstract
From September 26 to 29, at the Second China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo held in Changsha, Hunan Province, Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., as the sole vaccine manufacturer representing the Beijing delegation, mobilized its Public Relations Department, International Cooperation Department, and Research Management Department, assigning key core personnel to devote themselves fully to the event and achieve substantial results.
To further implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s commitment, articulated at the Extraordinary China–Africa Summit on Solidarity Against COVID‑19, that “China will continue to provide full support for Africa’s anti‑pandemic efforts and, once COVID‑19 vaccines are developed and put into use, will prioritize benefiting African countries,” and to advance the Belt and Road Initiative on vaccine cooperation and green development, we have joined forces to build a China–Africa community with a shared future. During the expo, our company entered into a partnership with Sida Group, Africa’s largest digital television and internet video operator. In response to Minhai Biotech’s product portfolio, Sida Group will mobilize its extensive government resources in health, sanitation, and disease control across African nations to launch broad‑based, in‑depth collaborative initiatives. Meanwhile, we also reached a preliminary agreement in principle with the Zhejiang–Africa Service Center; the two parties will engage in deeper, mutually reinforcing cooperation to promote resource exchange, sharing, and integration within the framework of China–Africa collaboration.
During the four-day China–Africa Expo, the company also engaged in in-depth discussions with business representatives from Egypt, Pakistan, and other countries, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation, growth, and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Since the onset of the COVID‑19 pandemic in 2020, Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., a leading vaccine manufacturer, has swiftly joined the nationwide effort to contain and combat the virus—engaging in a people’s war, an all‑out battle, and a decisive campaign. The inactivated COVID‑19 vaccine produced by its parent company, Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products, has received emergency use authorization from the Chinese government, making it the fourth domestically developed inactivated COVID‑19 vaccine to be approved in China. In terms of international cooperation, according to available data, the company’s COVID‑19 vaccine has demonstrated favorable efficacy and safety profiles. Collaborations have been launched in countries including Chile, Malaysia, Ukraine, and the Philippines, encompassing Phase III clinical trials and product procurement agreements. Furthermore, the company’s vaccine products are undergoing regulatory registration in 41 countries worldwide, with five overseas marketing authorizations already obtained.
In 2021, the inaugural year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the company will continue to uphold the principle of “putting the people first and life above all else,” further expand its friendly cooperation with African countries, and contribute to the goal of “developing better vaccines to benefit human health.”
