Pakistani Health Minister Aamer Mehmood Kiani stated that, given the steadily rising incidence of the disease nationwide, resuming measles vaccine production is of paramount importance. He said, “Measles vaccine production for children had been halted for seven years, but it has now been resumed.” To date, the National Institute of Health in Pakistan has manufactured one million doses of the measles vaccine and expects to produce an additional two million doses by June 2019. On December 26, Pakistani President Arif Alvi paid a special visit to the National Institute of Health and remarked, “Health is the top priority of the current government.”

In January 2018, experts from Pakistan’s National Institute of Health visited Minhai Biotechnology, a subsidiary of Kangtai Biological, for training.

It is reported that in February this year, Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kangtai Biological, supplied 1 million doses of measles vaccine concentrate to Pakistan’s National Institute of Health. With the assistance of Minhai Biotechnology, the National Institute of Health successfully completed the production of 1 million doses of measles vaccine in 2018. In response to demand, Minhai Biotechnology will continue to supply another 1 million doses of measles vaccine concentrate in early 2019, making a positive contribution to Pakistan’s immunization efforts.
